I was looking for some information on comics and self-publishing and couldn't find it all in one place, so here it is:
Since you're going to be writing comics, shouldn't you also pick up Eddie Campbell's Alec: How to be an Artist (Amazon link)? I mean, he pretty much lays it out for you.
- My quest was started by a Journalista link to Alec Longstreth's comic based on his lecture at The Center for Cartoon Studies.
- This is an excellent how-to (and it's free!).
- Dave Sims's speech on comics.
- Dave Sims's book on self-publishing comics. (I haven't found this anywhere.)
- (While at amazon.com, you could also pick up my favorite issue(s) of Cerebus.)
- Gary Reed's self-publishing guide.
- Matt Kindt's "How to make comics" video. Cool stuff.
- Larry Young's True Facts (Amazon link)
- (I first heard about this via Warren Ellis's website. It's an excellent practical guide on diy comics. It feels like a manifesto. )
